Environmental Management, Regulatory Compliance and Creative Solutions

Human health and the environment will always be critical to protect. Guided by engineering principles, a critical path approach and our integrated understanding of biology, chemistry, hydrogeology and geology, IES assists clients with optimizing their environmental monitoring and management programs. We have experience with public and private clients, small and big, who are charting new paths in their industry. We help our clients implement their creative ideas and successfully navigate the evolving regulatory framework to solve complex environmental challenges.

Environmental Monitoring, Investigation and Remediation

IES performs surface water, methane and groundwater monitoring, reporting and statistical analyses. We conduct environmental and hydrogeological studies before a site is developed and also manage projects that require mitigation, restoration, reclamation or assessment of corrective measures. We perform studies on waste characterization and source delineation. Our ‘big picture’ approach is to help our clients implement proactive strategies as a preventative measure to solve a potential problem so it never will happen.

Solid Waste Design, Permitting and Consulting

IES assists their clients with the design and permitting of a wide variety of new and existing solid waste handling facilities. We assist in the client’s interaction with the local and regulatory authorities regarding zoning, permitting or enforcement actions, provide recommendations for preventative maintenance and solutions that are protective of human health and the environment. We perform engineering and construction administration for new construction and closure of existing facilities, life-cycle cost analyses, master planning, quick preliminary critical path studies, permit modifications, post-closure care engineering inspections and general assistance with required reporting for remaining capacity, financial assurance and permit review.

Geotechnical Engineering

IES manages subsurface exploration projects in a variety of physiographical regions. We supervise drilling and prepare/review reports for various projects related to soils investigation, environmental monitoring, civil/site planning and structural design.

Construction Management, Administration, Review and/or Oversight

IES prepares construction plans and bidding documents for civil/site development projects, and provides administrative and general construction review. We help our clients become successful with their construction projects through documentation and clear communication of objectives and responsibilities and recommendations of suitable engineering alternatives that may save the client significant costs. When unforeseen problems are encountered during construction, we have the experience and skill-set to help the project team identify the solution in the field.

Civil / Site Design, Plan Review and Stormwater Management

IES assists private and public clients on a wide variety of civil engineering and site design applications from all stages between preliminary planning and project completion. We prepare conceptual plans and master plans and design land development and infrastructure projects. We are certified to be a design professional and plan reviewer for projects which require Erosion, Sedimentation & Pollution Control (ES&PC). We design strormwater infrastructure conducting site-specific hydrology calculations. We help our clients obtain, maintain and terminate the NPDES permitting appropriate for their project, whether through the state or local government. We prepare Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP’s) and Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans for sites with industrial activity and help the project team implement inspections, reporting, recordkeeping, sampling and update the plans, as necessary.

Surface Mining Engineering, Permitting and Consulting

IES designs surface mining facilities, prepares Surface Mining Land Use Plans (SMLUPs) and helps clients obtain, amend and close Surface Mining Permits. We assist in the client’s interaction with the regulatory authorities regarding permitting or enforcement actions. We provide general assistance with engineering inspections, review and required reporting.
